William Purce
Director of Mortgage Regulation
William Purce, Director of Mortgage Regulation, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending, has over 31 years of experience in the regulation and examination of non-depository institutions, including mortgage companies, home equity lenders, home improvement lenders, and manufactured home lenders.
In April 2021, William joined the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending as the Director of Mortgage Regulation. In this role, William is responsible for the Mortgage Licensing and Mortgage Examination Divisions.
Prior to joining the Department, William worked with the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner in various roles. Before leaving the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner, William was the Senior Supervising Examiner responsible for the Exam Review and Industry Submissions Departments of the Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner.
William has been a subject matter expert in the development of the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry’s National Test with Uniform State Content, and a member of the Mortgage Fraud Task Force.
William was the author of numerous articles, including Usury and the Truth In Lending Act: Fundamentals and Calculation Examples, which was published by the State Bar of Texas. William earned a BBA in Finance from University of Texas at Austin.
